Welcome to the Penney Richards Memorial Fund website.
Penney Richards died tragically in a motorcycle accident on November 19th, 2009 at the age of twenty-five. Penney, or "PJ" as she was known to her many friends and family members, left a legacy of caring, compassion and love. She is missed not only by those friends and family members but also by her co-workers and patients where she worked for only a short time. She is remembered particularly for her constant smile, her enthusiasm and love of life. She touched the hearts of many people she knew and who knew of her.
Through the memorial fund, we carry on her legacy through scholarship awards to deserving students pursuing their education in the healing arts, particularly the oncology field. Just prior to her death, Penney had planned to continue her education in the field of radiation therapy. We could think of no better way to honor her calling than by helping deserving students achieve their educational goals and continue to positively impact others just as Penney would have done.
There is more information about this scholarship here. You will also find photos of Penney and other information about her short life.
